A Collection of Grimm’s Fairy Tales is a fairy tale anthology I created as part of a joint project for both my Illustration and Graphic Design courses. I designed a cover and illustrated three spot illustrations for the story The Raven by the Brothers Grimm.
The main challenge was to effectively communicate the story of a princess who was cursed into a raven and falls in love with the man that sets her free from her enchantment. Inspired by classic fairy tale illustrations, I wanted to put a modern twist stylistically while keeping the traditional, artisanal look and feel. My objective was to reflect the Brothers Grimm’s timeless storytelling through the various spot illustrations.
I began my creative process by brainstorming and sketching out a range of ideas for the cover and spot illustrations.
